Can you program a key fob bought online?+
Yes — most makes, no problem. Bring the fob and your V5/photo ID and we'll cut and code it. For prestige proximity keys (Range Rover, Porsche, latest Mercedes) we recommend supplying the key ourselves to guarantee compatibility — eBay 'compatible' fobs are often non-OEM and fail.
How much does key fob programming cost?+
Transponder coding from £80. Remote fobs £140. Smart/proximity keys £220-£380 depending on make. All fixed-price quoted before we attend — typically 40-60% less than a main dealer.
How long does key fob programming take?+
30-60 minutes for transponder and remote fobs. 60-90 minutes for smart/proximity keys. All-keys-lost jobs 90-120 minutes. All done on your driveway with no need to move the car.
Will programming a new key affect my existing keys?+
No — we add the new key alongside any existing working keys. The only time existing keys are deactivated is during an all-keys-lost job, where the security protocol requires it (and the originals are lost anyway).
Do you program keys for prestige and keyless cars?+
Yes — BMW CAS3/CAS4/FEM-BDC, Mercedes FBS3/FBS4, Audi IMMO5/MQB, Range Rover KVM, Porsche PCM, Jaguar XF/XJ, Lexus, Tesla Model S/X. Full dealer-level tooling for every system.
Can I program my own key with a YouTube tutorial?+
Some older Ford/Vauxhall keys can be self-programmed via the ignition sequence. Anything from ~2010 onwards needs dealer-level diagnostic equipment — there's no DIY route. The Autel IM608 we use alone costs £4,000+, which is why prices for self-coded older cars are very different from modern ones.
